RETURNING Student Annual Verification


We are pleased to welcome you back to Maryville City Schools as a returning *family and thrilled to announce our new Annual Verification for student information.  Beginning on Wednesday, July 24th, you will be able to complete much of your back-to-school paperwork online.  Online registration/verification has been requested by parents for several years and we hope this improvement is a welcomed change.  

* Returning students are those who attended Maryville City Schools during the 2018-2019 school year and who either reside in the city limits or who have been previously enrolled as an out-of-district student.

Who needs to verify their student information online?

All students who were enrolled in Maryville schools during the 2018-19 school year will receive the snapcode email.  Everyone who plans to return to our schools during the 2019-20 school year will need to complete this process.

If a student will NOT be returning to our schools due to relocation or other enrollment, the first question as part of this online process will allow you to indicate you are NOT returning.

Where do I start?

An email will be sent on July 24th to parents/guardians with instructions and a link with a secure “snapcode” that connects directly to a student’s enrollment information.  Parents will receive a separate email for each student enrolled previously in Maryville City Schools. Once the parents/guardians receive the email, it is very important to complete the enrollment as soon as possible. We have designated the month of August as our official Annual Verification month ... please complete this process at your earliest convenience during the month of August.

  • Click the unique link provided in the Returning Student Enrollment email.  (*This link has your student’s snapcode embedded in it so you won’t have to type in the snapcode to access your student’s information).

  • Once you are in, you will be asked to verify your student’s date of birth.  Then the system will take you through the forms you must fill in to complete the online enrollment process. Make sure you Submit at the end of the process.
  • After submitting the completed form, if you have additional students to register, click the Returning Student Registration link and enter your next student’s unique snapcode that you received in a separate email. Alternatively, you can log out and then click on the link in the email for your other student.

What’s a snapcode?
By clicking on the link above, you are automatically entering your child's snapcode. The snapcode is like a key to your child’s Online Returning Student Annual Verification for the upcoming school year. You should receive a unique snapcode or snapcode link for each child. 

Should I create an account? 
- If you’ve never completed an online Online Returning Student Annual Verification, you should create an account. This allows you to securely save your work and come back at a later time if necessary. You can use your email address or cell phone number.
- If you already have an account, you can sign in and complete the form. (You should use the same account to complete forms for multiple children.)

Do I have to answer all the questions? 
Required fields are marked as "Required".

What if I make a mistake? 
If you would like to make a change, click on the underlined field or click “Previous” to return to a previous page.

I’ve completed the form, now what? 
When you have finished entering your information, click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.

What if I have more than one student at Maryville City Schools School District? 
Do I need to do this for each child? Yes, because you’ll need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you submit one Online Returning Student Annual Verification and then start another – this will allow you to “snap over” shared family information, which will save you time.

What is a SNAPCODE?

Snapcodes are only used for returning students – those students who attended school in MCS for any part of the previous school year. The snapcode is like a key to your child’s data for the upcoming school year. The parent/guardian email listed first in powerschool should receive an email in July with a unique snapcode for each child. Clicking on the link in the email with the embedded snapcode in it will take you directly to the login page for the returning student registration - so you will not have to type in the snapcode. If you do type in the snapcode, make sure you enter it exactly as it appears, with no spaces or punctuation.   

Need help?

You may complete this online process on any available computer.  For convenience, if you don't have a computer ... just wait until your student comes home with their school computer.  Otherwise, you might want to use the local public library, your work place computer,  or anywhere that has computers with Internet access.  If younger student families (those who are not issued a computer for use at home) need computer access, please inquire at school - help is available.   If you are having trouble with the registration process, contact your child’s school during open office hours or contact the POWERSCHOOL COMMUNITY help center.  Powerschool also has a help line at (866) 434-6276.

how long will it take?

As with any new software, the first year may seem a little slower as you become familiar with the process.   However, in our testing this summer, we find that most can complete this process in 5 or 6 minutes, with 10 minutes being the longest reported time.  

Do I have to answer all questions?

All questions marked "REQUIRED" must be answered and all questions should be considered fully before your pass it by.


After the month of August, we will give our front office staff a little time to make sure our data is complete before we open the database back up for editing by parents/guardians.  We will notify you and place a note on our website when you can edit your student information.  As always, however, call your school front office with any questions.

How do i complete the process?

Once you have finished entering your information, click the Submit Button  button at the bottom of the Review & Submit page. This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions. If something is incomplete, you will see a link in red labeled Required Button  or Invalid Button  on the Review & Submit page. Click the blue Edit link and it will take you to the page with the missing/invalid information. Continue to go back to the Review & Submit page until there is nothing else missing. At this point, you should be able to click the  Submit Button  button.

Do I need to complete a form for each of my children?

Yes, because you’ll need to provide information that is specific for each child. You can either click on the Returning Student Enrollment link or go back to the email for each child and click on the link in the email. If you have a child that is new to the district, contact the campus to register that child. New registrations are currently managed at the school.

In addition, when you are moving from one student to the next, you will be asked if you want to "snap over" the information you entered (information that isn't student specific) to the new student.  Answer yes and save a bunch of time!

I didn't receive a snapcode.

Anyone who did NOT receive an email with a SNAPCODE should contact your school.  Specific details are in the letter sample on this page. 

Also, check your other email accounts.  The system only picked one email (the primary) and many families have multiple accounts.  


The only way to change your primary email address in Powerschool is to contact your school office.  Email is an important vehicle for contacting parents and guardians, so we always ask that this information remain current at all times.
