Yes, we are taking calls Monday through Friday, from 8am - noon at the district office and from 9am - noon at all schools.  We only take visitors by appointment, but find that most matters can be handled by phone or email.  If you don't know who to email, feel free to use MCS@maryville-schools.org and we will forward your question or concern to the person who can best respond.  

YES.  Free meals are available on Tuesday and Thursday at four locations for drive-by pickup.  Any child 18 years of age or younger qualifies and the child does not have to be with the parent or guardian to collect the meals.   

The TN Department of Education will NOT be administering any required assessments this spring.

Each school district is at a different place when it comes to the connectivity of its students - the percent of students with access to high-speed internet and the percent of students with access to a device.  We are very fortunate in both areas.  Through our iReach initiative, we provide all of our students (kindergarten through 12th grade) with a device (iPad or laptop).  We also have great internet coverage throughout our community.  Over 90% of our students live in a home with high-speed internet. We have filled in the gaps by deploying hundreds of hotspots to homes without Wi-Fi connectivity.

In many cases, other school systems are not quite there yet with devices and internet for students.  That limits their ability to mandate learning when schools are closed.  I can say with confidence that very close to 100% of our students have a device AND the ability to connect the device to high-speed internet.  That allows us to take the approach we have taken with online learning.  We want school to continue.  There is still content in every class that students have not covered yet, and those skills are important for the next grade level or course.  Teachers have narrowed the focus to those essential items.  We want teachers to provide instruction on those items and to assess students' mastery of the skills and concepts presented.  To that end, I feel it is essential the work being completed is graded.

While many U.S. schools have been forced to shutdown, we are in the enviable position to give our students the skills necessary to prepare them for next school year and beyond.  This is our mission and we feel confident that every parent and guardian shares our passion for every student to be successful.                                                                                             ---Dr. Mike Winstead

Graduation is a priority and we WILL honor the Class of 2020 with a commencement ceremony.   Our original date of May 15 may or may not work out, but if it does not we are committed to finding another date this summer to celebrate the many accomplishments of our seniors.

We have deployed most of the hotspots we have in our inventory, but if your student is struggling in class due to problems with WiFi connectivity, please contact your teacher, the technology coordinator at your school, or any administrator.  We are happy to see what we can do or suggest to help.

We are excited to share that the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 will be held on May 29 at 7:30 pm on the Maryville High School football field.   While we are committed to a traditional graduation ceremony, we will be adjusting the specifics of this plan based on the most current guidelines from national, state, and local officials at the time of the event.   Adjustments may include limited attendance and social distancing requirements.  As you make plans, please keep in mind that attendance could be limited to a maximum of 4 guests per graduate. However, we will be streaming the ceremony for friends and family to enjoy.  We will be able to provide you with detailed information regarding any restrictions on May 15.

Cap and gown distribution will take place on Friday, May 15 between 9 am - 11 am. Seniors are asked to pull in front of the gymnasium, and we will deliver caps and gowns to their cars.
