English Language Learners

Maryville City Schools provides English Learner services to support the academic and personal growth of students whose home language is not English. Our program helps students develop proficiency in conversational English, grammar, and literacy to ensure success in the classroom and beyond.

Eligible K-12 students receive services based on their individual language needs. Students in their first year or those who qualify under state guidelines, based on the ELPA21 Screener, receive daily direct instruction. Students who exceed state service thresholds may receive tailored support, and parents have the option to waive direct services while their child continues to receive indirect support in the classroom.

Our goal is to equip English learners with the skills they need to thrive academically and in the community, fostering confidence and success in a supportive learning environment.
