It was all about the employees at the Maryville City Schools Spotlight event Monday afternoon. The theme of the day? Mission: Possible.

Hundreds of employees from the district gathered at Sevier Heights Church to play games, get a district update from MCS Director Mike Winstead and hear from keynote speaker Flip Flippen.

As folks walked through the door, John Sevier Elementary Assistant Principal Hope Blizzard and Sam Houston Elementary Principal Molly Rice greeted them with big smiles and handed them sunglasses. While in the lobby, employees were treated to glittery punch, snacks, merchandise tables and a raffle to win two tickets to the district’s Starlight Gala.

For teaching assistant Hollie Killebrew and 6th-grade science and social studies teacher Justin Warner, it was nice to see everyone from the district come together.

“It gives us a unified vision for the future of Maryville,” Warner said.

The event is for all district staff members from every school.

Killebrew said it was encouraging to see everyone come together and hear about how the district is doing well.

“I love that it’s a community; the school is its own community, and then we come together and just love on the kids, so it’s great,” she said.

Inside the auditorium, schools gathered into teams to compete in a few fun games to see who could complete their tasks the quickest.

After the games, Winstead gave an update on the state of the district, and the afternoon was rounded out with remarks from Flippen.
