QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MARYVILLE TAX REFERENDUM
The December 10th Maryville election includes a sales tax referendum. If passed, our schools would receive additional local funding. Below, you will find answers to some common questions we are fielding:
When can I vote?
Early and absentee voting has already started and will run through Dec. 5th. Election day is December 10th.
How much is the tax increase and how much revenue might it generate?
The proposed sales tax increase will go from 2.25% to 2.75% and produce an estimated $2.5 million annually - split between the city of Maryville and Maryville schools.
How can I get involved?
For those in favor and those who are opposed – voting is the best way to have a voice in this matter.
How will additional revenues be used in our schools?
Local revenues for education have remained flat for the past six years. In Maryville City Schools, we will use any additional funding for infrastructure, facilities, security and technology.

As we support the system’s strategic plan, Maryville High School goals include
Preparing students for an ever-changing world
Building a team of highly qualified teachers and support staff
Developing meaningful alliances in support of education and educational opportunities
Each goal is essential as we strive to maintain and stretch students during their learning experiences at Maryville High School. A personal goal I have for each student is the development of an individual learning plan that prepares him or her for post secondary work experiences. I want all students to discover their passion and develop career goals that will enrich their lives and contribute to their community.
It is exciting to partner with parents and the Mayville community as we plan and prepare opportunities for Maryville High School students.
