Degrees and Certifications:
Hello and welcome to the Maryville High School Orchestra page! My name is Mathew Wilkinson I truly believe music is a vital subject for today's youth because it is a distinctive form of intelligence, it presents students a creative and emotional outlet using sounds, and is considered an international language. Music is used in many different ways and cultures and since the world is getting smaller, studying music can help us understand and embrace different communities. The study of music aids in the life long enjoyment of the arts and provides opportunities for self-expression, self-confidence through success, and offers inspiration and guidance. The famous pedagogue, Dr. Suzuki, believed that all children could develop musical ability, which is why every student deserves the opportunity to experience music in a multi-faceted approach that is conducive to all learning styles.I have played the cello my entire life and music has opened doors for me that I never knew existed. I look forward to helping your child find their avenue of success at Maryville High School. Please follow Planet High School for all updated orchestra events. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the orchestra program.
